The Hotdisc chart is compiled from DJs and industry professionals’ ratings of songs currently being promoted on the Rush Released CD. They are not airplay charts, as airplay charts cannot work in Europe because there are no terrestrial country stations. The hundreds of country programmes on air which we service are likely to play a particular song only twice at most in a three month period, therefore rendering airplay charts insignificant in Europe. It works well in America where there are plenty of non-stop country stations but it does not work here. Any Airplay Chart you may see claiming to provide this service is bogus and Hotdisc does not condone these charts at all. They are misleading at best for the reasons stated.
The Hotdisc charts are put together weekly using ratings supplied by DJs who give scores to every song on the last three months’ editions of Rush Released. The scores are averaged out per week to give an accurate guide to the songs which are being championed by the industry. The aim is to showcase the songs which the industry professionals are flagging up as quality songs. This is a very useful exercise as it is free of politics, hype and rigging and done solely on merit!

~ Music Charts Magazine®
Kayla Calabrese, country’s newest fierce full-blood Italian and hopeless romantic, brings presteige beyond her years to the present female country mold. This Jersey girl brings vulnerability, strength and determination along with the New Jersey spirit and attitude to her music.
“I didn’t grow up singing, I actually thought country music was not ‘cool’ ,” laughs Kayla. This ambitious girl had many different dream jobs from being a veterinarian, to a doctor, to even a police officer. Deep down this hopeful artist wanted to let her inner star shine, so any chance she got, this sly girl would grab her mother’s video recorder and tape herself singing, watch it, and erase it before anyone else for the chance to see it.
“One of my favorite singers is Martina McBride” smiles Kayla. “My mom and I went on a scavenger hunt to find some tickets to a Martina McBride show. We went all over Reading, PA and finally figured out that they were in a CVS. I ran inside and found the tickets behind some greeting cards. My mom and I started jumping up and down screaming. Some random people joined us and said, ‘We don’t know why you are so excited, but we are excited too!’ It was so much fun to find those tickets!”
At age 16 while in the Big Apple watching the original cast of Wicked at the Gershwin Theatre, Kayla’s secret dream became a reality. Captivated by the singing and pure joy that was shown through the performance, Kayla wanted to begin the chase for her dream. No longer bound by a secret dream Kayla asked her mother for voice lessons and at 17 the journey began.
Shortly after Kayla, her dog Abbie, and her country stardom dreams headed south to Nashville. With encouragement from Renegade Radio Nashville founder Captain Jack, Kayla mustered up the courage to seek help from renowned music producer Kent Wells (Dolly Parton, Neal McCoy). “Kent taught me so many things that I did not even realize I needed to know about music and recording.” recalled Kayla.
The process of producing Kayla’s first EP began in February of 2012 with getting her songs written. She finished writing her 6 song EP, the last song ‘Did You Feel That’ was finished at 11pm the night before she began. “I love how so many country songs tell a story, so I was excited when Kent wanted to put this song on the EP because it was my story-telling song.” said Kayla. After almost a year of production this self-motivated young woman has her first EP and her current single “Kiss Me” is currently on country radio.
In the midst of chasing her dream, this hard working and tenacious girl attended school at Belmont University. Along with school and singing, Kayla worked as a nurse’s tech at Baptist Hospital and as a gymnastics teacher. This past May, Kayla graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. She recently passed her state licensing exam, meaning she is Kayla Calabrese-RN!
Kayla’s dream nursing job would be to work in the neonatal Intensive Care Unit. She and her twin brother, Ryan, were both preemies. Weighing only 3lbs 9oz when she was born, Kayla has a soft spot for premature babies. Sweet-hearted Kayla loves knowing that she is making a difference in someone’s life and that is why nursing suits her well.
In her spare time, Kayla enjoys being outside. Growing up only 20 minutes from the beach she loves the water and the sand. She also enjoys living a clean and healthy lifestyle. Making sure she works out, eats several small balanced meals throughout the day, and drinking pleanty of water is very important to her daily lifestyle. Even though being healthy is important, sometimes this Italian girl likes to splurge on her favorite dishes. “If I go home for a visit the first thing I get to eat is thin crust pizza! I also love to go to Carmine’s in New York City for their raviolo dish!” Kayla also enjoys cooking her native Italian food. “One time I was making lasagna for my old boyfriend and myself and it didn’t exactly turn out like I thought. I had worked on it all day and was about to get it out of the oven when he asked ‘do you need some help?’ Being the independent person I am, I said ‘no’ and went to get the tin pan out of the oven. The minute I pulled the pan out of the oven it caved in and collapsed all over the floor. All I could do was laugh. We ate it anyway and it was delicious.”
Even though Kayla misses everything about home: her two brothers, her parents, the Jersey Shore, and her friends, Kayla knows that this move was exactly what she needed. “I’m an Italian country singer from New Jersey, that’s what makes me different,” smiles Kayla. Excited about continuing this journey, the dynamic vibrant country songstress is underway in making all of her dreams come true.

Music Charts Magazine® History
– Song for the month of January 2015:
Dean Martin – “That’s Amore“
“That’s Amore” is a 1952 song by composer Harry Warren and lyricist Jack Brooks. It became a major hit and signature song for Dean Martin in 1953. Amore (pronounced ah-MOR-eh) means “love” in Italian.
The song first appeared in the soundtrack of the Martin and Lewis comedy film The Caddy, released by Paramount Pictures on August 10, 1953. In the film, the song is performed mainly by Dean Martin, with Jerry Lewis joining in and then followed by the other characters in the scene. It received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Original Song of that year, but it lost to “Secret Love” from Calamity Jane starring Doris Day.
The track that was used for the single released by Capitol Records was recorded on August 13, 1953, (Session 3098; Master 11694-6), with the orchestra conducted by Dick Stabile, at Capitol Records’ studios at 5505 Melrose Avenue, Hollywood, California. On November 7, 1953, Martin’s record of the song, with “You’re the Right One” (which was recorded at the same session as “That’s Amore”) on the flip side, peaked at #2 on the Billboard charts. The song was kept from the #1 spot when Les Paul and Mary Ford’s Capitol Records single “Vaya Con Dios” returned to the #1 spot after being knocked out by Stan Freberg’s Capitol Records single “St. George and the Dragonet”, which had been #1 for the previous four weeks, after “Vaya Con Dios” had been #1 for the nine previous weeks.

James Cecil Dickens (December 19, 1920 – January 2, 2015), better known as Little Jimmy Dickens, was an American country music singer famous for his humorous novelty songs, his small size, 4’11” (150 cm), and his rhinestone-studded outfits (which he is given credit for introducing into country music live performances). He started as a member of the Grand Ole Opry in 1948 and became a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1983. At the time of his death, he was the oldest living member of the Grand Ole Opry.
Born in Bolt, West Virginia, Dickens began his musical career in the late 1930s, performing on WJLS radio station in Beckley, West Virginia while attending West Virginia University. He soon quit school to pursue a full-time music career, and traveled the country performing on various local radio stations under the name “Jimmy the Kid.”
Dickens was hospitalized after a stroke on December 25, 2014, days after his last appearance on the Opry to mark his birthday. He died of cardiac arrest on January 2, 2015, at the age of 94. He is survived by his wife, Mona Dickens, whom he married in 1971, and two daughters, Pamela Detert and Lisa King. After his funeral on January 8, 2015 at the Grand Ole Opry House, Dickens was entombed in the Cross Mausoleum at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Nashville.

They aren’t just lyrics to one of his songs. When Colt Ford says, “Time to give thanks where thanks are due, You all more than fans you’re my friends too” – he means it. Those lines are from the song, “Thanks For Listening”. He genuinely appreciates each and every one of us who buy his albums, request his music on the radio, and sit in those chairs at his shows.
I have had the pleasure of seeing Colt on stage three times now. I was completely, totally, thoroughly entertained from the minute I sat down in that chair, until the minute I stood up to leave. It isn’t just Colt who is entertaining. I know he was the star of the show. But he has a group of remarkably talented musicians/vocalists on stage with him. And, each one of them has a job to do. They are all individuals who combine their talents in such a way that you cannot help but enjoy every minute of the performance. It’s a production. It’s a stage show. And, all that combined with everything Colt brings to the stage gives us one of the best concerts I have been to this summer.
I would imagine, at this point, there are a lot of you sitting back in your chair with your mouths hanging open. Those would be the
people who have been reading Country’s Chatter for the past six and one-half years. Those would be the people who know that I am a humongous fan of old country music. The stuff we now call ‘classic country,’ or ‘traditional country’ music. And, yes, I am that person who just doesn’t think there is a real place for rap music in the country music world. But, it’s here. Though the new ‘country/rap’ music is really not what I love, I have to applaud Colt Ford for doing what he does so well that you don’t walk away from his show disappointed. More than that, you walk away wanting to go back – as evidenced in the fact that last night I saw his show for the third time – but not the last time!
It’s been a long time since I’ve seen anyone work as hard as Colt does. He, sings, dances, jokes, talks, interacts with his musicians, connects with his audience and painstakingly entertains every person in that audience.
From Adam Hale at the merchandise table, and Sarge taking on the roll of road manager, to Colt and all of the guys in the band, this was a great group of people. I can’t go on without taking just a minute to identify those band members for you. Tim Haines, drums; Paul Chapman, bass; Spencer Bassett, guitar; Mark Easterling, guitar; and Justin David, fiddle. I could probably write an entire article about each of these gentlemen. Tim, I wish you had stood up every now and then. I never did get a clear shot at him (always a cymbal or two in the way); Justin – you are nothing but personality! Paul, Spencer and Mark – thank you guys, for not only putting on a great show, but for being so generous with those guitar picks! I got one! And, I’m not alone! It was like you all wanted everyone to go home with a little memento.
Colt is an entertainer. He’s a patriotic man, who doesn’t mind talking about his love of this country and his gratefulness to the men and women who serve in our military. He’s flag-waving, country boy from Georgia, who will stand in front of anyone and acknowledge what he feels about this country. You can’t help but like him! I had an opportunity to talk to him, before the meet and greet, and at the meet and greet. And, he wasn’t in a big hurry to get rid of us. Even in a normally fast-moving meet and greet line, Colt didn’t seem that anxious to send any of us on our way, without having at least some kind of small conversation with us. And unlike many meet and greets I went through this summer, it wasn’t a ‘get your picture snapped with him and get out of here’ situation. He was more than happy to put his name on whatever we had for him to autograph.
Those of you who have never gone to a Colt Ford show, because rap music just isn’t your thing – hey, it’s not my thing either! Yet, I can’t tell you when I’ve had more fun at a concert. For all of you who are fans of Colt’s music – if you’ve never been to a show, you don’t know what you are missing.
