The Hotdisc chart is compiled from DJs and industry professionals’ ratings of songs currently being promoted on the Rush Released CD. They are not airplay charts, as airplay charts cannot work in Europe because there are no terrestrial country stations. The hundreds of country programmes on air which we service are likely to play a particular song only twice at most in a three month period, therefore rendering airplay charts insignificant in Europe. It works well in America where there are plenty of non-stop country stations but it does not work here. Any Airplay Chart you may see claiming to provide this service is bogus and Hotdisc does not condone these charts at all. They are misleading at best for the reasons stated.
The Hotdisc charts are put together weekly using ratings supplied by DJs who give scores to every song on the last three months’ editions of Rush Released. The scores are averaged out per week to give an accurate guide to the songs which are being championed by the industry. The aim is to showcase the songs which the industry professionals are flagging up as quality songs. This is a very useful exercise as it is free of politics, hype and rigging and done solely on merit!

Tim White
Tim White, Executive Coordinator of Song of the Mountains, is a well-known musician, recording artist, radio air personality, concert event promoter and music preservationist. He is native of Central Appalachia and a resident of Blountville, Tennessee.
Tim White was instrumental in the founding of the Appalachian Cultural Music Association (ACMA) a non-profit organization promoting the music and lifestyle of the southern Appalachian region. The ACMA operates the Mountain Music Museum and the Pickin’ Porch stage 626 State Street in Bristol, TN-VA which showcases the music and performers of our region.
In 1986 he painted the now famous 30 x 100 foot mural on State Street in Bristol, VA-TN paying tribute to the Bristol Sessions of 1927. The mural pictures the main players of these historic sessions including Jimmie Rodgers, the Carter Family and Ernest and Hattie Stoneman.
Tim also founded the Birthplace of Country Music Alliance in Bristol, TN-VA in 1994 which is now the BCM (Birthplace of Country Music) which is on the Virginia side of the city. The BCM now operates a 12.5 million dollar cultural center and museum paying tribute to the music of the Southern Appalachians.
In 2003, he helped take the music of the Birthplace of Country Music region to the Smithsonian Folklife Festival in Washington D.C. where his band, the VW Boys performed along with other artists from this region. Tim and his band have also performed at the Kennedy Center.
In 2008 Tim performed on the Grand Ole Opry at both the Ryman Auditorium and the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, TN with Virginia’s native son, Jesse McReynolds and the Virginia Boys.
Mr. White has organized and promoted scores of music concerts, festivals and events. He chaired the 75th Anniversary Celebration of the famed “Bristol Sessions” and ten related concerts a 14-day period throughout the region.
Tim also hosts a weekly syndicated radio program which airs on over 60 stations across the eastern United States. www.thetimwhitebluegrassshow.com
Tim also hosts the award winning concert series “Song of the Mountains” which is aired across America on over 190 PBS outlets with a potential reach of 147 million viewers each year.
Recently he completed an 80 ft. mural in downtown Marion, Virginia depicting the musical heritage of the town and Smyth County, Virginia.
Mr. White’s relationships in the music and recording industry, his knowledge of bluegrass and old-time music, and his proven track record in event management and promotion are invaluable to our region. He takes this a step further as a visual artist and muralist. When not performing on stage Tim paints on canvas.

Pete Agnew of “Nazareth“
Nazareth are a Scottish hard rock band, founded in 1968, that had several hits in the United Kingdom in the early 1970s, and established an international audience with their 1975 album Hair of the Dog. Their best-known hit single was a cover of the ballad “Love Hurts”, in 1975.

At their peak, Nazareth were huge, selling vast quantities of albums and hit singles, pulling in enormous crowds to their shows all over the world.
Like all the best bands, Nazareth came from humble roots. They formed in Dunfermline, Scotland, and played the Scottish clubs throughout the 1960’s in their original incarnation as the Shadettes. The name change to Nazareth came in 1970 and in 1971 the band moved to London to start what was to become a long and illustrious recording career.
Even with the passage of time and line-up changes, Nazareth are routinely hailed as that rare thing – pioneers who became legends in their own lifetimes.
2015 sees them back on the road featuring new singer Carl Sentance (Don Airey (Deep Purple) & Friends, Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath), Krokus, Tokyo Blade and Persian Risk) , standing proudly alongside founder member Pete Agnew (bass) and long time band members Jimmy Murrison (guitars) and Lee Agnew (drums).
Since Dan McCafferty’s retirement in 2013 due to ill health the band had searched for a new singer and briefly appointed a local man from their hometown (Linton Osborne) to the role but this didn’t work out to everyone’s satisfaction so, after eight months the search was back on.
Then they found Carl.
Pete Agnew says “We had been looking at Carl from afar for some time and very much liked what we saw and heard so we asked him to come and sing a couple of songs with us in the studio. He came in and completely blew us away in the space of half a song and was offered and accepted the job right there and then.”
Carl is currently touring with Don Airey (Deep Purple) & Friends and takes up singing duties with Nazareth in April.
As that witness to Carl’s audition said – “When this lot hit the stage, sparks are gonna fly!”.

Who is Eldon Huff?
Record labels and publishers soon started calling and he eventually settled into a deal with Sony ATV. During his 3 years at Sony, he and his band stayed on the road playing nearly 200 shows a year, building and maintaining a loyal fan base. In 2010 Huff went back on the road, as lead guitarist and background vocalist, for country artist Eric Church. The time spent as a sideman on a major tour inspired Huff to search a little deeper for his own voice as an artist.
“I learned more in the time in Eric’s band than I had in my entire career. I have a ton of respect for those guys and what they allowed me soak up from them.”
After a bittersweet departure from the Eric Church band he set out to make a straight up rock and roll record, as the Eldon Huff Band. The power trio’s release, “Hellfire and Heartaches”, gained some critical success and respect from members of the classic rock community. In 2014 he found himself back to writing and producing tracks for a new country release.
“I’m back to doing what brought me to Nashville, writing great country songs and playing them to the best of my ability. I’m looking forward to making a new record and playing these songs for the fans.”
From his humble beginnings in Kentucky to the stage of the Grand Ol’ Opry and now the small screen, making cameo appearances on the ABC hit show Nashville.
“I’m doing things I never thought I’d do. Like Nashville. How did that happen? I’ve stood on the stage of the Opry twice now with my buddy Andy Griggs and man what a feeling that was. It just made me even more hungry for a chance to play there as an artist and stand on that sacred circle.”
A journey that is far from over and a new chapter that will no doubt bring the success he’s worked hard for. The future looks bright for Eldon Huff.

Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band – “Night Moves“
“Night Moves” is a song written and performed by Bob Seger, from his 1976 album Night Moves. Released as a single in December 1976, it eventually reached number four on the Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart. In doing so, it almost single-handedly changed Seger from being a popular regional favorite into a national star.
Seger and the Silver Bullet Band went to Toronto for three days to record a few tracks with The Guess Who’s producer Jack Richardson, whose Nimbus 9 Productions company was hot at the time. The band quickly recorded two Seger originals, one of which was “Long Long Gone”, and a cover of the Motown hit “My World Is Empty Without You”, but before Seger left on the third day, he composed a fourth song to record. Seger said that the song was influenced by Bruce Springsteen’s “Jungleland”. As the only members of the Silver Bullet Band still in Toronto were the bassist and drummer (plus Seger on acoustic guitar and piano), Richardson recruited local session musicians to play electric guitar and organ, while Sharon Lee Williams, Rhonda Silver and Laurel Ward sang the song’s trademark backing vocals.
Richardson said that “the whole arrangement came together in the studio.” “Night Moves” is a mid-tempo number that starts quietly with acoustic guitar. Bass guitar and drums are introduced as the song’s setting is described: 1962, cornfields, ’60 Chevy. An intense summertime teenage affair is described, knowingly more sexual than romantic, with short instrumental lines breaking the evocative imagery sometimes in mid-sentence. Piano, female backing vocals, electric guitar and organ are added as the song’s emotional nostalgia builds momentum. Then suddenly it stops, as the narrative flashes forward to some period in the future, where he hums a song from 1962. To a quiet acoustic guitar, the narrator, awakened by a clap of thunder and unable to fall back asleep, ponders a different sense of the title phrase. Then the rest of the instruments fall back in, for an extended coda vamp of the chorus.
An edit of the song was generated that omitted the narrative interlude. (This abbreviated version is the one that was used on the FM soundtrack.)
After the tracks were mixed by Richardson and engineer Brian Christian, Richardson said that he received a call from Seger’s manager/producer Punch Andrews expressing dissatisfaction with the tracks, and Andrews said that Capitol Records had been equally disappointed. A few months later, when Richardson was talking to a Capitol A&R executive, he asked about the Seger sessions and was told that “both tracks” were potential B-sides. It turned out that Seger and Andrews had never given “Night Moves” to Capitol, so Richardson did and, after hearing it, Capitol made it the title track of Seger’s next album, as well as the first single.
Seger remembers the sessions somewhat differently. He claims that it was his decision to use musicians other than his normal band, and that he saw the song as potentially the one that would define his career. However, that appears to be inconsistent with the fact that the song was not submitted to Capitol by Seger and Andrews.
Bob Seger has been quoted as saying that the song “Night Moves,” (as well as the overall theme of the album), were inspired by the George Lucas movie “American Graffiti” (1973).
