"Yakety Yak" is a song written, produced, and arranged by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller for The Coasters and released on Atlantic Records in 1958, spending seven weeks as #1 on the R&B charts and a week as number one on the Hot 100 pop list. This song was one of a string of singles released by The Coasters between 1957 and 1959 that dominated the charts, one of the biggest performing acts of the rock and roll era.

The song is a "playlet," a word Stoller used for the glimpses into teenage life that characterized the songs Leiber and Stoller wrote and produced. The lyrics describe the listing of household chores to a kid, presumably a teenager, the teenager's response ("yakety yak") and the parents' retort ("don't talk back") — an experience very familiar to a middle-class teenager of the day.

Only two words are necessary to describe Virginia native Brittany Warthan: Energy & Talent. When she takes the stage the synergy of her enormous energy leaps to the forefront to capture an audience and never let them go until the last nBrittany Marie - NEW DISCOVERY for the month of May 2014 at Music Charts Magazine dot comote has faded into the echo of exuberant applause. With Brittany, what started in kindergarten has grown exponentially and continued for a lifetime. From her early days in school plays and stage performances to taking center stage at Fairs and Festivals, Brittany has continued to grow and entertain. "Over the years," she says, "I realize how music relates differently to people and how styles of music and powerful lyrics can reach people emotionally. That's what I want to do; reach people in a meaningful way."
It is that desire to reach people and entertain that took Brittany to the nationally acclaimed Colgate Country Showdown in 2006. There, she won the local competition and the regional event in the Richmond, Virginia area which thrust her into the State Finals. Although she didn't win the State competition, the learning experience and exposure was enormous. That exposure granted her an invitation to perform at the VIP Club of the Nissan Pavilion in Northern Virginia ahead of a Kenny Chesney and Dierks Bentley concert. Not satisfied to remain still in her career pursuits, Brittany has also appeared in background parts of Evan Almighty from the makers of Bruce Almighty. She participated as a singer in a local Virginia commercial for television. Her stunning good looks and her ability to adapt to almost any situation has brought her to the front of the crowd pursuing an entertainment career.
